I have not found anyone who I trust that can take his BGs..plus understand the whole diabetic routine...and am seriously considering taking him. I know about all the specifications for the airline,carrier measurements, price, etc.....But my concern is how this will affect the diabetic dog. Simon is very laid back...and adapts very easily to change..BUT an airplane.. The flight is about 5 hours.. I know with the time change I could deal with the insulin..But ..What are anyones thoughts or experiences with this...? I would be worried sick if I left him.......but I don't want to risk anything either.....THanks................Susee Lhasa-Poo 17.85lbs dx 8/4/07 Insulin: Presently 5 and a half units Humulin N BID 7AM and 6PM (working up to 12 hours) Home cook: Chicken breast, greenbeans and oatmeal or brown rice in premade frozen portions Snacks: dried chicken breast and cooked liver pieces and sometimes dog treat (carb)if walked Daily multivitamin

Andy is 20 lbs and there is no way he would fit. I know how you feel. I went to a graduation in Houston overnight and hired a very competent pet sitter that knew how to give insulin and was very familiar with it. I was still worried sick. I have the names of several other pet sitters, even ones that will stay at your house overnight. With my entire family in Houston, I know that an emergency could happen and I would have to go so I try to be prepared. Registered User Posts: 182 (10/27/09 12:37:07) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Simon is about 17 lbs now..It would be tight..but My concern was more about how the stress would affect the bgs..He hates thunder!..what about an airplane engine.??.Not like I can take a test flight..right.?..I spoke to a flight attendant and she said to get a soft crate and when he is under the seat his head could stick out.....Still playing with the idea..It worries me sick..so that is why I always end up staying home....Will play with the idea and research a petsitter who can pull blood.. I have been successful at finding ones that can do insulin.......THanks.......... Andy would throw a fit, bark like he was telling everyone... Hey I want to play. Would someone tell my mom to get under the seat? I mean really, I want to see out the window!!!! Anyone want kisses?? I have lots of kisses, just bring me your face! LOL No way to know about the stress really. Your Vet can prescribe some tranquilizers. Worse case scenario, he needs extra insulin when you land? What about the stress of you being gone? It all depends on the dog. My Sammy would freak. Toto would freak. Roxy could get by with doggie downers. Andy on the other hand would love it. So sweet......So hard to know what to do....I didn't think diabetic dogs could have tranquilizers..Maybe I'll ask my vet for some for me..cause I may need them more than Simon.!!!!!.....Of course.I am.still playing with the idea............Thanks....
