Schultz is 10 today!  For a while there I wasn&#39;t sure he was going to make it to this big day.  He&#39;s been diabetic for 3 years at the end of this year,
has severe allergies, cataracts, had Lyme Disease this fall and more recently was treated for an ulcer.  Vet put him on WD (he&#39;s not getting a mix of 5 oz
canned WD and 1/3 cup dry WD) and... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ I started the switch from vetsulin to NPH last night. I gave her NPH 2 units less than with her vetsulin after dinner last night. She woke up at 1 this morning
throwing up- but her BS was 203 so not sure if that was the reason. I am running a rough curve today (I&#39;m not able to hit precisely every 2 hours!) just to
see where she is peak wise. So far she is running high... 230-260 range. I guess I need to wait a few days before increasing the NPH. When I do a search I find

			<description><![CDATA[ We always refrigerated the vetsulin but the novolin nph (relion) said something about room temperature. Can the NPH be stored in the fridge and if so does it
need to come to room temperature before using? With the vetsulin I would warm it in my hand by holding the syringe before giving... is that still ok or a

			<description><![CDATA[ Well we went in for our second curve and Macy&#39;s BG levels were higher.  We are now on 2 units up from 1 1/2 units two times a day.  I asked the vet how
many more curves and she said probably one more.  Is this usual with such high levels?.  Macy was in the 400&#39;s.  I would like her to gain some weight but
the vet was hesitant to boost her food intake.  WD two cups a day is what she gets.

My MIL&#39;s dog Jenny (tiny wee apricot poodle) who is diabetic is in a terrible state at the moment.

She has been for loads of tests (even a day at the vets), first - as far as I can gather - she was told that she had a pancreatic tumour (I know this is bad,
have researched it) and that she only had three months to live :0(. Then after retesting the vets - as far as I can make out -diagnosied ulcerated colitis (I
looked this up but it seems to be a lifelong... ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ Hi, all. My yellow lab Morgan has had three hypos since June. The latest was last night. All three came out of nowhere and when I tested her, she was all the
way down in the 20&#39;s on her bgs.  Prior to June, she had a severe hypo 2 years ago and nearly died, but ended up miraculously recovering (she had 0 bg for
over 12 hours on that one if you can believe it).

			<description><![CDATA[ Well I guess I spoke too soon about all of my smooth sailing with Foxy. My Mom has been visiting and threw out some skimmed turkey fat. Unfortunately all of it
did not make it to the garbage can and some of it ended up on the floor. Foxy was right on it. By the time I figured out what was going on she had lapped up
probably about two teaspoons of it. I called my vet right away and she said to make her throw up using hydrogen peroxide and if that did not work she needed to

			<description><![CDATA[ It has been many years since I dealt with pancreatitis, but all the food around the holidays can be deadly to a diabetic dog.  Turkey skin, gravy - these have
tons of fat and can cause pancreatitis is a heartbeat.  With extra people around, please make sure that no one feeds you diabetic dog anything.  As a special
threat, you could save just a few slivers of white meat turkey breast for them.  And another concern- some dogs that are prone to pancreatitis can get it just

			<description><![CDATA[ When our current supply of vetsulin runs out we will be switching to NPH. Our usual vet just had surgery and can&#39;t answer questions just yet (hopefully
back before we switch)! I know to get the u100 syringes. Our vets partner is calling in the rx to Walmart and recommends an even exchange- ie we give 16 units
of vetsulin so start at 16 units of NPH. Anything in particular you know to watch for? Specific changes to feeding routines? Foods? She has done so well on the
vetsulin I&#39;m a bit... ]]></description>
